Oyster harvesting?

This is probably a long shot, but I was watching a show on TV and they had people going to an oyster farm or bed and people were just picking them up. This was in Seattle.

I was wondering if anything like this existed in South Florida. Thanks.

Don't think so but there are lobster mini seasons.

No oysters in South Florida -- some up off the Panhandle beaches, but no commercial oyster harvesting in the Miami area.

Apalichicola Florida is home to some of the best oysters around. Located in the panhandle area its where most of Florida oysters come from. We used to have them here when I was a kid but too much growth and polution and overharvesting have ruined the oysters beds.

Here is an article about Apalachicolas oyster farming: oysterguide.com/new-discoveries/…
