September Travel 2014

Hi everyone

I am coming to the US from Australia for the third time. We always come in August and September. We have always wanted to make our way to Florida, but have always been turned off by the potential of a hurricane. I am aware that Hurricane season is July- November with Peak Periods August/ September. I know it is hard to predict, but am I taking a huge risk by coming here at this time? This will probably be my last opportunity. I know it's low season and very hot. Still, do many people travel at this time, and does anyone have any statistics or information on the likelihood of a hurricane taking place at this time? It would be mid September.Thankyou for your time!

hi, i've answered on your keys post as we are flying into fort lauderdale and travelling to miami, the keys and up the gulf coast in sept, we know it's hurricane season also and if that is the month you have to go then you just have to make the best of it if something did happen, there's also a good chance there will be no hurricane , others have said about hurricane insurance but i don't think policy's from the UK cover this. the risk doesn't stop us going, it might not happen and sept is when we have to go

read the following: tripadvisor.com/Travel-g34439-c12147/Miami-B…

None of us can predict if a hurricane will or wont happen. Id educate myself and know whats expected of me in case something did happen, will I be forced to evacuate etc. and plan accordingly.
