Help with hotel location -

Hi.

Some friends and I will be travelling to Miami in February for a running race. The race begins at Virginia Key Beach Park. We have narrowed the hotel choices down to the Hampton Inn Miami-Coconut Grove (2800 SW 28th Terrace) and the HAMPTON INN & SUITES MIAMI / BRICKELL DOWNTOWN (50 SW 12th St.).

Which location would you recommend? We will not have a car and will be looking for a moderate restaurant within walking distance that can accommodate a large group.

Thanks in advance.

I'd stay downtown, though the Grove is close to the Metrorail.

The Brickell location is just as close to Metro-Rail via free Metro-Mover. It also has better access to much greater variety of restaurants in Brickell Village and Bayside (via Metro-Mover) which are ideal for large groups.

We are going on a cruise and would like to know if anyone has any ideas about hotels near the port that allow early check-in...We arrive at 8:00 a.m. and only need a hotel for the one night. Thanks !!! My first cruise, yippee !!!

hampton inn brickell downtown has a "cruise critic deal" which includes early check in. You may want to give them a call to see how "early" is early check in :)

Hi;

Brickell is closer to Key Biscayne and there are restaurants and Bars within walking distance but is a commercial/business mostly and not much to do. Try Blue Martini!

Coconut Grove is more touristy and have way more restaurants, bars, nightclubs, shops but you will need a car or Taxi to go to Key Biscayne (metro rail does not go to Key Biscayne). Visit CocoWalk and Mr. Moe's at Commodore Plaza. Have fun!

Thanks for the input. I'm having difficulty making the decision because both places seem to have pluses and minuses.
