The Delano is lovely - one of the more "chic" spots on South Beach. Designed for adults, the lobby bar and restaurants are very popular, the Florida Room lounge in the lower lobby gets great crowds and the rooftop spa is great for an all over tan...

All over tan???
I have been to the rooftop deck but never realized this was one of the uses. Is this common?
I agree that the Delano is a great place
With a skimpy enough bikini bottom you can get a nearly all-over tan anywhere on the beach in Miami Beach.
The paparazzi love to wait outside the pool doors also for exclusive pics, I see them all the time :)
South Beach definetely has many options for lodging. We travelled with a group of 6 friends for a "Girls Trip" in March 2012 and decided to stay in a vacation rental as opposed to a hotel since we were staying 9 nights and we all wanted to stay together. We found several options via Craigslist but realized that many were Scams (beware when too-good -to-be-true!). We ended up staying in a wonderful 2BR apartment that we found in homeaway.com and would definetely recommend it: www.miamibeachguesthouse.com. It was my 1st time renting a vacation rental and did not regret it; definetely a lot better value than a hotel room and so much more comfortable if you're doing a longer stay. Of course, if you're not bothered by over-priced room service, then there are plenty of great trendy hotels in the area.
