South Beach to Coconut Grove by public transport

I'm trying to plan a trip from South Beach to visit a friend who lives at the Mutiny Hotel at 2951 South Bayshore Blvd. in Coconut Grove. The trip will be on a weekday. The easiest and cheapest routing would be appreciated..

You can find this information easily by going to the Miami-dade transit site:

http://www.co.miami-dade.fl.us/transit/

and entering your starting and destination addresses in the "Trip Planner" at the right of this page. I just tried that for you, and the very short answer is: 120 bus from south beach to downtown, Metrorail to Douglas Rd station, then 249 bus to coconut grove. Time about 1 hour and 10 mins. You can get details from the above link.

RK is correct. You can also take the C or S buses to the downtown outdoor terminal, but they are a bit slower than the 120. Note that when you disembark at the downtown outdoor terminal, you have to walk one block (and cross Flagler and then NW 1st streets) to the government center building/tower to catch the Metrorail. I don't know if they still give transfers for cash fares on the buses, but you can ask.
