October Dining Specials

Molino's at the Promenade at Bonita Bay in Bonita Springs ran an ad in yesterday's Naples Daily News offering a 2-for-1 special until the end of the month. All you have to do is mention the ad. I haven't eaten there yet, but this might be a good excuse to try it.

we're here in lovely Naples at the moment! Just had the Tasting Menu at Tommy Bahama for $29.99. Excellent food, lovely atmosphere and 'sensible' sized portions. Apart from the dessert - that was HUGE! Good choices and nice wait staff plus live music. We ate outside but it was FREEZING! Take a jacket....!

Coco --

Hubby and I had dinner last night at Bistro 821 on Fifth Avenue. Two entrees (choice of grilled mahi mahi, chicken and asparagus risotto, pork tenderloin tips and gorgonzola over pasta, or bouillabaise), two salads (choice of caesar or house) and a bottle of wine (red or white) special -- $29.95 !

Trying the $25 special at Mangrove Cafe on Fifth Avenue on Wednesday. Choice of any 2 entrees on the menu plus bottle of wine. These folks are practically giving the food away !

It's clear that people are taking advantage of these values. Bistro 821 was full, inside and out.

Don't worry, it's going to warm up again this week....... hope you continue to enjoy your visit !

heh Cranky thanks for those suggestions. Just booked Bistro 821 for this evening on your recommendation. Loving that this year we can actually make online reservations - previous years we'd have to wait to be seated or try a' call ahead' which is fine for us but not good with a starving eight year old and two sets of OAP grandparents! You are right about the weather - today at Vanderbilt has been beautiful. Hope we're eating inside tonight though!

Bistro 821 was brilliant last night thanks Cranky. We found Mangrove and will give that a try this week too. I noticed Vergina were doing a special too that we'll try too.

Coco--

Try the Sweet and Sour Snapper (mango and balsamic glaze) at Mangrove Cafe -- it was scrumptious. The place was over-flowing tonight.

Heh Cranky, I just this minute called them to reserve for 6 people tonight and I have to wait until next Wednesday to get a 7.30pm reservation. So off to watch the sunset on the pier and try our luck on fifth! Yumm your suggestions sounds great.

Ate at Ridgeway Bar & Grill just off 3rd Avenue last night, $25 3 courses and really lovely. Salads to start, delicious breads, mains of crab cakes, salmon, and 2 others I cant remember, carrot cake dessert. All really delicious. Great kids food - grouper and chips was yummy.

Have made online reservations for Yabba (Sun/Mon 50% off) and the italian in their chain for the same deal. Chops Bonita offering set menu for $39: bottle of wine, and two eat two courses on Sun/Mon but unfortunately times were too late for us so had to pass that one up.

Might want to pick up a copy of today's Naples Daily News. Showcase section has coupons and ads for some specials (some at better places than others) -- and a very favorable review of Randy's FishMarket. VERY casual restaurant with moderate prices and, as the review says, probably the best key lime pie in Naples (although we are also partial to the gigantic ones -- about 20 slices-- that are $10 at Costco).

Swamp Buggy Parade tomorrow ! Since it's unlikely to spot one of these vehicles outside of Southwest Florida, might want to take a peek -- unless you're stopping in at the races this weekend (also a unique experience).

Trying as many restaurants as we can that we haven't been to before and are having specials.

Went to Molino's at the Bonita Bay Promenade tonight. An absolutely lovely setting amid waterfalls, tropical foliage and music -- in the middle of an outdoor "mall". It was jammed and we were lucky enough to snag a table outdoors. Food was good enough (wouldn't run back to pay full price) and everything (including all cocktails and wine) was 1/2 price.

Saw an ad for a special at Gina's on 7th ( $29.95 for 2 entrees and bottle of wine). Had never even heard of it before. Can't find any reviews. Anyone been there? Mama?

BTW The Dock is offering buy one entree get the other free through the end of the month.
