airboat tours

We would like to go on an airboat tour in the Everglades. Can someone suggest a good tour company? There seem to be so many on the web. We would like the tour to involve only our family of 4 and not be touristy....thanks!

We went on Tuesday. Did the Island Everglades tour (www. airboat everglades.com) Go early if possible, not as crowded. There were four of us on our boat. It was great! We saw alot of alligators and learned about the Everglades. This was the hour tour- you need to make a reservation and there are coupons on the website. Highly recommend! The kids were fascinated! They even got to hold a baby gator at the end.

Airboat tours are fascinating ways to see the Everglades, but they are very damaging to the environment. You may consider making a day trip to the Micosukee Indian Reservation in western Broward County (just east of the Collier County line). In addition to a great little museum and swamp buggy tour, they offer airboat rides on their reservation land. The duration of the ride is controlled and minimizes the disturbance to local wildlife. You'll find the res about 20 miles north of Exit 49 of I-75.
