Did someone come up with this catchphrase and beat other states to it before they could use it?
Surely it should be called the "partly cloudy" state. Five other states including Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico and Texas, catch more sunshine.
I think this is misleading and false advertising. Who should I sue?

I think , "Sunshine" is just one word and that one word describes what people believe Florida to be ... quite sunshiny.
"Heavy downpours in the late afternoon, just before you go back into Disney State" just does not roll off the tongue.
Perhaps "The generally warmer on average than anywhere else State" would be better.
Sunshine state beats swampland state in the big scheme of things when attempting to attract holiday makers
It wasnt that long ago when Florida couldnt give land away, but since "big walt" arrived and bought up half of it for a paltry 2 dollars and 50 cents,... well the rest as they say is history..
The reason may well be the same as Foggy old London ( which now doesnt get hardly any foggs)
Its just a mental picture we have of these. which isn't necessarily true
