Yes, Scan60 has the LYNX bus routes down pat, and while that's the cheap way to go, it's very slow.

The fastest way to get there is by taxi, but that's not cheap.

I think we used Mears transport, If you phone them and they can tell you what parks they are going to on certain days. |We shared a Mears Mini Bus and i think it was $15 per person return.

Or get a Disney bus to Downtown Disey and get a cab from there (saves about $10).

From WDW resort, take WDW free bus to DownTown Disney Marketplace.

Walk outside, across the street, and take LYNX 50 (every 30 minutes) to the first stop on Sea Harbor Drive (very soon after it exits I4 - ask the driver where).

From here you can either

- walk back around the corner onto Central Fl. Parkway and take a 43 to Universal. 43 runs only once per hour and only Mon-Sat daytime. Not evenings and not Sundays. The last return trip by this route is at 6.40pm from Universal Mon-Sat.

or

- take an 8 from the same stop as you get off to the stop two lights past WetNWild on I-Drive (again, ask the driver where), cross the street and transfer to 37 to Universal. 8 and 37 run every day. 8's are every 30 minutes or better, and 37's run every 30 minutes and well into the evening. Regardless of how you get there, you can use this route to get back, later than by the 43.

You pay one fare, $1.75, on LYNX, so long as you ask for a "transfer" when you pay - this is a ticket which gets you onto further bus(es) to complete your journey. It's not a "return" fare - you pay again (once) on the way back.

Schedules are at www.golynx.com, but by way of illustration as to how long it will take, here are example timings for the first route (repeat every hour subject to first and last buses):

Leave resort by WDW bus to DTD at (say) 7.45 am (guess)

Lv. DTD (50) 8.20am approx, arr Sea Harbor Dr 8.38am

Lv. Central Fl. Pkwy (43) 8.55am approx; arr Universal 9.30am......

Wow, thanks for that I didn't realise it would be so complicated!

If we missed the last bus home from Univeral are there always plenty of taxis?

We are not going till Oct 2009 so will probably pester you with a few more questions!

Not complicated once you get the hang of it; think of it as being set up like the Underground - you pay one fare, but you may need to change buses (= trains) to get from A to B. They are geared up for this and the drivers know how to direct you.
