Do we need a rest during the day or stick it out at WDW?

Hi we are 8 adults staying at the POR in WDW.

Are we better to come back to POR for a rest during the day from the theme parks and head back in? After going bleary eyed at my computer reading, reading and more reading, I am wondering if that idea will work given the geographics and grand scale of WDW. ie by the time we do the transport shuffle, get back to POR, walk to our room - does it give us much time to rest before heading back in? We'll be using Disney transport.

Or are we better to sleep in, leave later and just pace ourselves for the day and evening without the resort break? We will be staying 7 nights but will only have 4 full days to enjoy the parks.

We're also using the DDP which is another reason I need to work this out. Can any seasoned WDW fans offer any advice?

Personally i suggest you get to the parks as early as possible and you will get on all the big rides almost straight away. We was then done with those pretty early in the day giving time if wanted to head back to the hotel pool or something then u could return back later to watch the fireworks and browse the shops. U save soooo much time gettin there early, hours off your day saved by not doing the huge queues. Good luck

It depends on how busy the parks are, but I can guarantee you that you will spend far more time in line, and less time on rides if you go later.

You other option is to go early, come aback at 4 after having done everything, then swim, shower dress for dinner at Epcot, DTD or a resort and then have evening fun.

If you are only spending 4 total days in parks you probably wont get too burnt out, its all adults and no kids right. If you really want to see as much of the parks as you can on the trip then staying the whole day will help with that. If yout more interested in relaxing (lazing by the pool, getting extra sleep etc) then go back to the resort but you will lose a lot of time going back and forth.

There are plenty of ways for an adults only group to relax within or near the parks. At MK you can hop on the train and go around a couple times, take a boat ride to Fort Wilderness and back, ride the "people mover" around a few times, ride the monorail around the resort loop, or just sit and people watch a while. At EP or DS take the boat through the whole Epcot resorts/boardwalk area and back. AK has some nice shady, quiet spots to just sit and relax for a few minutes.

If you are ones that enjoy staying out late and want to do EMH, you could pick a park with evening EMH and take a break in the middle of that day, show up at park opening to get in some of the busier rides, leave for a few hours in the afternoon, and then come back for the evening EMH.

Hi jane56

When other forum user put up a op like yours, they are always told get to the park early.

WHOA!!!! are'nt we on holiday, we are here to chill. Not to be up all night worrying, about getting to the parks at the crack of dawn.

You will have to line up sometime in the day, unless you are going to sprint from ride to ride.

Ok if you go early you might get on the big rides quicker, if everyone who has been told go early to the parks. The parks are going to be full as soon as the gates open, my advice is take your time.

You have gone on holiday to relax, take in the sights.Do you need to do every ride in one day?

I never every rush when on holiday, we never hire a car in Florida. We use the public transport, you miss a bus so what. There will be another at sometime, there is a line for the ride. You will get on it at sometime, my way of thinking is just relax on holiday.

You have got 50 more weeks to rush around in the rat race.

I never advise to "sleep in" when going to Disney as we are always at the parks for rope drop in order to get the most rides/attractions in before the real mass of crowds arrive.

It's a matter of personal choice though.

What time of year are you visiting?

If it's going to be unmercifully hot and the parks very crowded, I'd get up early, go to the parks for opening, stay till noon or 1:00, then head back to the resort for a rest during the hottest part of the day.

That evening, you can go back after it cools off and some of the crowds, who stuck around all day, have left.

As for the DDP, you can usually get better seatings for T.S. at lunch, but you don't get as much food. If you like your "big meal" at dinner time, you may have a harder time getting ressies.

Personaly, I like to be at the park when it opens and stay till it closes. No breaks for us, even with kiddos. We enjoy the parks at a leisurely pace taking time to sit and take in the sites as we go. I really never understood the go back and rest theory :)

The only park you really need to go early for is Animal Kingdom if you want to do the safari and see the animals, as it gets hot the animals tend to hide in the trees etc so you dont see as many as you do if you go early in the morning when it is nice and cool.

Otherwise hey your all adults, get up when you want have a swim, and head on when ready, you can stay as late as you want as you wont be restricted by having to get back for tired kids,

Honestly you will be fine just have fun, it is exhausting but I bet you find you wont want to go back to the hotel to rest once in a park.

enjoy !"

Salford,

most british holiday makers have 2 weeks in orlando, some even three.

When someone has only 4 days, lying in is an expensive waste of time IMHO. But, if you have over a week, I always advise taking things easy.

I had 48 hours in Sanfrancisco a few years back and got tons of things done/seen in that short period. The kids had a blast.

As i said its a personal thing and we are all just giving our opinions.Personally I would not want to spend hours in queues when those hours could be spent relaxing or taking in the sights.

Having arrived at all the parks early on our last holiday i can assure you that you do save a huge amount of time... and no we did not run from ride to ride lol, there was no need. You will be surprised how quickly all the popular rides can be done when there is not many people about!!

I have to agree with the above post i would not want to lie in bed when in Orlando anyway too excited lol.

Just go with what suits you and enjoy!!

I really think it is a matter of personal preference. With a big group, different people may prefer different things. The last time we went, several years ago, we did four parks in four days. We were exhausted and I needed a vacation after my vacation. We stayed off-site and just didn't want to take the time to leave the parks, nap, and bother with parking and all when we returned. So we just went and stuck it out as long as we could. I swore I would not do that again. This time when we go (June) we are staying on site so we can take the bus back for a nap or swim and return in the evening. I just prefer getting up early going to all the big rides while there are shorter lines and then taking a rest. After I nap I am way happier and will enjoy going back for dinner and shows, etc. We only managed to stick it out to closing once the last time and I am looking forward to my new plan which will allow me to take it easier. Also, since we got the Buy 4/get 3 deal, I can choose to go or not go to a park on any give day and still have plenty of time. Really, though it is a matter of what you think you would want to do. I know you will have a great time regardless!
