Parking at Disney

If you park and leave, coming back later, do you have to pay again? And it's $12 per car?

No.

You have your parking pass and you just show that.

You just pay one time at the Disney theme parks per day for parking. If you leave and come back later, you do not have to repay parking again as long as you kept your receipt from your earlier payment.

Parking is only charged at the four major theme parks; the water parks, the resorts, and Downtown Disney all have free parking.

Is it reasonable to park at Downtown Disney or water parks and take Disney transportation to other parks, or not worth saving the $12 parking?

Not really. The bus service from Downtown Disney is for transportation to the Resorts. You would need to go to a Resort ( closest to the Park you wanted to go to ) and then take another form of transport ) bus , Boat or Monorail depending on which Resort ) It would make for very long trips to the Parks. It is a nice way to go see all the Resorts tho :)

The Waterparks close early so there would be a chance you couldn't get back in to get your Car and again, the transport is to Resorts and not Parks :(

Disney has already thought of all this

The $12.00 a day in addition to the park admission can be a downer - even the shuttles that the off-site hotels advertise are not always convenient and if you want flexibility, you end up taking the car and paying the parking fees anyway. At least it's not $12.00 per person to park.....

The parking IS expensive but I'd much, much, much rather pay the $12 than deal with the hassle of trying to park at DTD.

You'll find it very difficult, if not impossible to get to the parks for opening. If you're going at a busy time this can be a big deal.

Except for the Magic Kingdom you'll be able to walk from the parking lots to the theme parks if you arrive early.

At the end of a long tiring day in the parks I'm really not in the mood for a long, multi-bus commute. The lines for a bus to a resort can be extremely long at park closing. Then you will have to wait for a second bus at the resort. That $12 could end up costing you as much as an extra 3 hours each day if you get unlucky with queues and things.
