Advertising on the forum.

I, for one, am fed up of it. I go on to a thread and begin to read it. When I get to no 3, 4 or 5 post I am faced with a flashing advert which completely puts you off the posts.I know that TA is an advertising body and is here to make money but the forum is for info on Orlando. What with the many posts now that are just 'chats' and do not mention hols or travel let alone Orlando, and the adverts now appearing on posts I am leaving for now as it is not worth the effort. I dont mind the chat lines ,but hate these adverts.

This is almost why TA forced this new format on to us.

And I hate it. We will have to see if we can get a pop up blocker. I also hate them boosting the sound up every time the adverts come on TV. But I have guy working on a sound moderator for that one.

It's crazy. Bad enough when it was a Disney advert,or something to do with travel, but just a while ago, there was an ad for a car dealership in my city!! Doesn't make me want to buy anything because it is annoying. Almost as bad as unsolicited salespeople calling my house. But at least I can hang up on them! But I don't think it is so bad that I would leave the forum.

Sweetlady..part of the problem I have is lately we are having a lot of posts which are just chat between posters. Two of the latest do not mention holiday, travel or Orlando in any of the 30-40 posts yet they are not owled. If I wanted chat I would go on Facebook/twitter. I want info on the area and to be able to answer questions on the area, not to say in 20 odd posts how wonderful one poster is who makes people laugh and needs a statue in his honour erecting!! Rant over..adios. J.

I apologize, jason, for misunderstanding the gist of your post, since the title of it had to do with adverts. My bad. I understand that you are a man who would like this forum to follow the exact standards that TA has,and I respect that. However,it seems to me that you are stressing yourself needlessly by beating this dead horse. I doubt that anything will change on the forum anytime soon. So,if you look at a thread and after reading 1 or 2 replies, and you don't think it has any relevance to you,why not just go back and find another thread that you can contribute to? I am not trying to be a smart alec, just thinking that it would reduce your stress level a bit. Better for your blood pressure!! Have a wonderful day!! ;0)

Hi everyone,

Thank you for sharing your feedback and for your continuous participation in the Orlando forums. As folks have mentioned, we really try to keep the destination forums as closely related as possible to travel in the area. In this effort, I am going to close this topic.

For more information please do feel free to visit and participate in the current discussion about the recent appearance of ads in the forums located in our Help Us Make TripAdvisor Better forum at:

We really appreciate your participation and flexibility with the recent necessary changes we have made!

Best regards,

TA_Louise
