First Timers Trip Report - Part 1 (bit long)

First of all I would just like to thank everyone on this forum for answering my random questions and also posting very helpful information. We all (me, DH, DD6 & DD5) had an amazing holiday and already wanting to go back.

Day 1:

Stayed in airport hotel at manchester airport the night before so that we would be refreshed for our flight. Flight was on-time and food was pretty decent for inflight meals. There was no hold-ups and immigration or customs so was at our hotel in reasonable time to have a look about. Went for dinner at TGI's but we were all pretty tired so ended up bringing most of it back. Watched Harry Potter on tv until we all fell asleep.

Day 2:

Arrived at Animal Kingdom in time for "rope drop" where we watched Mickey, Minnie and Pluto open the park. Got FP for Kilimanjaro Safari first then went to ride Kali River Rapids. Got drenched but as there was no wait time went straight back on it. Got FP for Expedition Everest then went to do Safari. Kids loved this as they saw loads of animals even a few day old baby elephant. Got FP for Dinosaur next then did child swap for Expedition Everest as DD5 too small. We were asked to keep hands down for the ride and they gave us more FPs so we did the ride 3 times with no waiting at all. Shared ribs and chips from Flame Tree BBQ for lunch then went to do Dinosaur. DD5 loved this but DD6 was scared! It was about 3.00pm now and very hot so we decided to head to Down Town Disney for a look around. Kids found the fountain and cooled off in there for ages, ended up having to buy towels to get them dry. Got sandwiches from Earl of Sandwich and took these back to hotel. Amazing first full day and we were all asleep by 10.00pm.

Day 3:

Magic Kingdom today and again we made it for "Rope Drop". Great way to start the day. What an amazing feeling seeing the castle for the first time. Went straight to Thunder Mountain to get FP and then rode Splash Mountain with only a couple minutes wait. Went to use FP for Thunder Mountain but there was only a 5 minute wait so rode it first then used FP to ride again. Did Hanuted Mansion on way round to Mickey's Philharmagic. FP machines not working here so went to get FP for Peter Pan's Flight and it gave us them for Philharmagic too for straight away!! No wait again for this and we all thought it was very good. Got a Mickey ice-cream whilst DH went to get FP for Space Ranger Spin and then went to do Peter Pan's Flight. Queued 30 minutes to do the Speedway and then did Space Ranger Spin. Did Stitch's Great Escape after this, none of us liked it didn't really get the point. Went straight into Monster's Inc Laugh Floor - hillarious. Got FP for Space Mountain for after lunch. Had ADR for Cinderella's Royal Table for lunch as a birthday treat for DD5. She was really overwhelmed but an amazing experience having her own time with each of the princesses. Me and DD6 did space mountain twice and by the time we came out it was getting too hot so headed back to the hotel swimming pool to cool off. Just brought a MacDonald's back to room for our dinner and again all asleep by 10.00pm.

Day 4:

Decided last minute to go to Typhoon Lagoon today but made it in time for opening and managed to get 4 sun loungers in the shade. Excellent water park and great places for the kids to play. I went off and did Humunga Kowabunga - wow does that leave your stomach behind! Left there at about 1.00pm before it got too hot and headed over to Down Town Disney for some shopping. Had ice-creams at Ghirilldelli's so didn't need any lunch. Headed back to hotel to get ready to go for dinner but our first rain of holidays so just ordered pizza in.

Day 5:

Rest Day. Managed to sleep slightly longer than we had been but just lazed about until 9.00am and then went for breakfast at IHop. Caught a bus up to the Target Supercentre and did some more shopping. Back at the hotel we spent a couple of hours in the pool before going to Outback Steakhouse for dinner.

Scottish - Sounds like you planned this very well. Look forward to reading more.

SEajac - "Rope Drop is" being in the Park as it is opening. There is usually a small ceremony with Disney Characters. By going at "Rope Drop" the Parks are alot less crowded and you can do many more attractions with shorter waits.
