Which beach?

We are planning at least one day at the coast. Which beach would you recommend for small children with regards to safety in the sea? Also would we need to take our own beach chairs or can you hire them? Thanks.

eternaltourist,

Welcome to Florida. This is a very frequently asked questions. Use the "search" function and type in the word "beach". You will find many, many different opinions on this subject.

Ok,looked at the link and still don't know which beach to aim for! I would like somewhere with calm seas.no cars allowed on the beach (don't want to have to worry that kids will get knocked over) and a restaurant nearby for us to eat at. I don't mind travelling for say two hours and would we hire beach chairs or take our own?

My kids have never seen the ocean so the next time we visit Orlando,we are considering a day and overnight stay in the Siesta Key area.I have read that the beaches are awesome and safe for kids. They love looking for shells so I hope this beach has some.Shark teeth would be a plus! Look into Siesta Key.

Racso ... no shells or sharks teeth on Siesta ... you have to go to Sanibel for shells and Casperson Beach for teeth.
