Tipping When There's No Real Service?

I'm at a resort now; I enjoy a restaurant where I order at the counter to carry out. the food to my room. There is a line for a gratuity on the credit card slip. Do you tip in this situation?

No

The receipts all just print out that way but if it is self serve, quick service, counter service, no need to Tip

If your taking take out from a regular restaurant I would leave a small amount maybe 5$, I usually leave 20$ at a resort restaurant when I eat there. If its just counter service fast food then no tip

If I sit down to eat at a "regular" restaurant, I always tip 20 percent, but at a resort restaurant where I'm carrying it out, what am I tipping for? The person carrying a bag to me? I'm not sure ...

I agree, I have never tipped for carry out. It would be different if they were delivering it to you in your room

Curious what about places like outback curb service. They did deliver to the car in a bag? always feel I need to tip and probably too generous.

I always have this problem, when to tip and how much, in the UK we only tip restaurants with top service, I always tip but we aren't obliged to tip at all, I do believe in tipping if the service is great, and i know that waiters/waitresses aren't paid the best, but what about room service and if someone has helped carry bags to our car, how much should we tip? when should we tip? We always end up panicing as to how much to give!

we leave about $3 or $4 a day (do it daily as you may have a different maid), Room service 15 %, bags to the car, just say no thanks if you don't want to tip. If bell boy has taken them from room about $5 (depending on amount of bags) but if just loading into car then a couple of $. Valet a few $ when pick up.
