Disneyland is in California. The Walt World Resort area is in Orlando.

Walt Disney World Resort covers 47 square miles and includes theme parks, water parks, hotels, camping grounds, waterways, transport infrastructure and an enormous number of recreation, education and leisure facilities. However, individual hotels also refer to themselves as 'resort hotels' meaning all the facilities and accommodation belonging to each hotel.

Not a dumb question.

You are right...in a way. Disneyland Resort in the state of California refers to the overall place as well as Disneyland being the name of one of the parks and one of the hotels.

The Walt Disney World Resort, or Disney World for short, is located in the state of Florida, or, more commonly, in "Orlando". In actuality, it is in Lake Buena Vista, FL, straddles two counties, and is a good many miles southwest of Downtown Orlando. Disney World refers to the overall place. All the parks and hotels have their own names. There are four main theme parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom), two water parks (Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon), and more.

I have sometimes seen people mistakenly say Disney World in the forum when they really mean Magic Kingdom which was the 1st Disney park here if Florida and is the #1 theme park in the entire USA and I believe the World in terms of annual attendance.

More confusing here is Orlando, is "Universal" which may refer to the overall place, Universal Orlando Resort, or one of their two theme parks, Universal Studios Florida.
