Hiya.

Yes we visited in the early ninties, and yes it was quite good...

They also had hammocks on the beach somewhere, ive got photos of our now 19 yr old as a baby in a hammock when he was a baby..

also in the days of water mania on the 192..

Yes , I have been a few times it was a really great water park so different to those around now .

The little island with the animals was a lovely trip too, I can't remember the name possibly Discovery Island ?

Such a shame they both closed

As far as I recall , there was a post about it a while back & it was polution , it was a natural water area more than like the parks now & it was too expensive to fix

As I recall, if you go on youtube there are videos showing what is still left of River Country. There may also be some videos of what it was like when it was still open. Also, by coincidence, this was on the official WDW blog today:

River Country was Swell, a great Waterpark

It was closed due to water problems, there is more to the story but that's the basic reason

Discovery Island was closed when they moved all the Animals to Animal Kingdom when it opened, hence the "Discovery Island" at the Animal Kingdom
