Thomson baggage - confused

Right, we've found a flight that we are looking at booking with Thomson. We're looking at going flight-only as we'll book a villa ourselves (the prices we've found flight, car hire, villa, park tickets, insurance and ESTA comes to about the same as just flight and villa with Thomson).

Trouble is, as it's flight-only, Thomson don't seem to include ANY baggage. It seems that you have to pay £50 on top, and that's just for a single suitcase up to 15kg (for an extra 5kg you pay £20 on top).

Is this right? It's still cheaper than anything else, but it just seems odd. That said, I guess that's how they get the cash.

Also, as a quick aside, Thomson are offering deals where car hire is included, but car insurance (which you need of course) isn't. Of course, the cost of the insurance with Thomson is more than it costs to hire a car with insurance from Dollar, Hertz etc. Can you just choose the car and get cheap insurance separately for whilst you're on holiday, or do you have to get it with Thomson if you want the car that's provided?

yes you are correct about the price of bags with thomson, as you will need the full 20kg for orlando (think what you may want to bring back) then its the seat price plus £70.00. I look at thomson, but because of this charge it worked out cheaper to fly with virgin, who gives you 23kg included in the seat price.

Try gettting a price from Thomson for a 'fly drive'. This price should automatically include your bags, but do check.. My niece has done this but she is not going to take the 'free' car. She is booking it separately through uscarehire.co.uk. You don't have to book the insurance for the 'free' car if you don't intend to take it but the overall price is sometimes cheaper than booking a flight only.

You may have to call Thomson's directly to get a fly drive price.
