First visit to Orlando

Hi we are two thirtysomethings who are visiting Orlando for the first time in just over 2 weeks and we are staying on International Drive .We did'nt want to hire a car so are relying on public transport to get around .Can anyone advise us on getting from the airport to International Drive ,where to purchase food from ,eating out and days out ,theme park tickets etc ,it all seems very bewildering at present so any help would be very much appreciated .

Welcome to the Orlando Forum.

As a first step, I'd recommend some reading - some or all

Brit Guide to Orlando 2013

Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World

http://www.frommers.com/destinations/orlando/

".Can anyone advise us on getting from the airport to International Drive"

This does not answer all your questions, but should get you started.

You will have a wonderful time. International Drive is loaded with restaurants. Our favorite is Ming Court. The food is wonderful, it's a beautiful restaurant, and Chinese musicians play after 7pm. If you will be arriving after 7 it's best to make reservations.

Two of our favorite parks are Epcot and Sea World.

you might want to look into the flexi ticket plus, 14 days unlimited use at, seaworld, aquatica, wetnwild, universal studios, islands of adventure and Busch gardens (which include transport to Busch gardens for free)...... All for £179 pp Adult Disney is a hard one to price, but if you are only going for magical kingdom then I would pay at the door and they have some offers there like 1 Park + 1 Water Park = $129 pp, Any info you would like extra just ask :)

I would decide now how many days you want to go to each.

It may be a little late if you are going in 2 weeks, unless you have booked through a TA or can get one of the companies which you can print off a voucher on line to get the ultimate Disney ticket which gives you 14 days access to all the Disney parks , water parks 7 disney quest, this is only available from the UK

It is however cheaper to get a magic your way ticket for the all the days you go rather than buying single day tickets at each park, discounts start at 4 days

Universal , Seaworld & BG plus wet n wild can be booked on one ticket which will give you 14 days access

I have never been to the pirate show in Orlando so can't comment & have been to the medieval show but it was about 20 ears ago so it is probably massively differnt but the Hoop de Doo review at Disney Fort Wilderness was really good last time we were there

Cirque de Soleil at DTD is amazing if that interests you

If you take my advice and go to Epcot make sure to see the Mariachi band at Mexico. They are world famous and their music is fantastic. Ask Randy the leader of the band if he will play some of Phyllis's favorites. He is very nice and plays what looks like a very large guitar. After the set he is very accomadating and will take a picture with you if you ask.
