American does not have seat back entertainment. There will be a movie/TV shows shown to the cabin on longer flights--probably only your Dublin to Chicago and Vegas to Orlando flights. If you don't have your own headsets or earbuds you can purchase them on board for $2 (they might be free on the Dublin to Chicago flight.) We fly American a couple of times a year from NY to CA and it is not that bad, but we(2 adults and 1 child) have an ipad, an ipod, 3 iphones, a portable DVD player, and a Nook. The food on domestic flights is only for purchase and it is expensive and small--and they only take credit/debit cards--no cash. We always take plenty of food and snacks on board. Just remember you are on vacation, and it is all part of the adventure :-).

Very few domestic flights have seat back entertainment-Jet Blue is one of them but American is not. There will be an overhead movie internationally but nothing otherwise and this is standard. Bring food, buy beverages after you get through security and bring a good book.

Flown a few times with AA from LHR to Miami return. All flights had IVOD and meals, soft drinks and a comfort pack were included. Alcoholic drinks were $6 each and payment had to be made by debit or credit card. Internal flights from Miami to Orlando no entertainment/food/drink but the flight was less than an hour. As others have said take your own entertainment and food/drink on internal flights.

According to several articles on American Airlines new fleet...aside from new logo, there will be in-seat entertainment. Have included a couple of links. One of the links has photos with seats that appear to have screens on the back.

I'm a frequent flyer on AA. The 777's have seatback entertainment with multiple channels. As of now, most other AA aircraft do not -- they rely on the shared screens or have no movies at all on shorter flights. The 757s that are also used for transatlantic flights have shared screens that rotate down from the ceilings.

AA is just implementing new aircraft purchases (but no Dreamliners) and cabin conversions. IFE is a big part of that, and they are showing much larger Individual seatback screens than even the current 777 aircraft have.

We flew AA London to Boston April last year on a 757 and it had seat back entertainment. The leg down from Boston to Tampa however did not.
