First trip from South Africa.....HELP please!!!!

We are planning a 10 day trip (our 1st) with 2 kids (ages 7 & 10) in October 2014.........

Keen to do all 4 parks; 2 water parks; Universal Studios; Sea World & Dolphin Cove; Lego land!!!!!!!!! (my husband says not hiring car but use Disney transport & get taxis!!!!!)

Staying in a Disney resort but which one????????? Want self catering option so thinking Villas best...... but which ones?????!!!!!!!!!!!

Looked at Beach Club (pool/slides look good for relaxation time between parks..... location good???) or Boardswalk.........

Bay Lake Tower for proximity to MK?????

Advice please......

Been 4 times and not hired car, think you need one if you choose villa though. Also the distance between places, parks etc longer than your thinking. Have a look is it worth you staying in park hotel? Last twice we stayed I.drive, good hotels with breakfast and shuttles included, plus lots to do in area we stayed Embassy suites and Sonesta es suites.

October is a good time to go. Weather will be better and crowds are not at peak.

Have you considered doing a few days at a Disney resort and the remainder somewhere closer to IOA/US and Sea World? If staying at WDW and doing parks there, a car isn't necessary. For the other parks, basing in Disney is possible, but will use time and money going back and forth in taxis. Of course, changing hotel will take some time also.

Would suggest having a couple of half days built in for enjoying resort pool, shopping or relaxing. Your list is overly ambitious if the ten days includes arrival and departure days, especially with Legoland, which is away from the Orlando area. Even with ten full days, are you willing to double up, having only a half day for some parks? Travel time will have a significant effect on your ability to see so many things in so few days, and could reduce your ability to use self-catering facilities -- will you really be able to return to your lodging to prepare and eat meals if you are away at more distant parks?

Please don't try to take a taxi from Orlando to Lego Land. It's too far away - about 1.5 hours. It could cost you literally $500 or more one way in a taxi. It could be even $50 each way to Universal from Disney depending on the traffic. Know before u go.
