To continue my thematic trip reports, I thought I'd give my observations on the parks. Our reflections on MK and HS were naturally influenced by the fact that we have been to Disneyland Paris several times so were inclined to compare!
General comparison - obviously WDW is huge compared to Paris so you can't make general comparisons, I would say that the quick service food options in WDW are on another planet to Paris, but that the shows were generally quite poor compared to what we have seen at DLP.
MK - You have to love this park because it is the centre of the Disney magic, but we felt that it was very very cramped, almost as though it was a similar size to DLP but with loads more stuff there. Consequently, the 2 days that we did were not the most pleasant experiences, and we focused on our fastpasses and short queues. For those who have been to DLP, we thought that Thunder Mountain was longer and better, but that the Haunted Mansion, Small world & Peter Pan were better at DLP.
HS - Much bigger than DLP but without too much crammed in, so a much more pleasant experience. Rides and stunt shows are similar to DLP, but with much better shopping and food!
Epcot - I love it here, it does have more adult appeal but the kids loved the entertainment (especially the band at the UK pavillion) and the topiaries which were fantastic. We thought that Mission Space was a bit over-sold but we loved test track and living with the land. Couldn't get a FP for Soarin after cancelling our pre-planned one, so skipped it as the queue was always very long.
Animal Kingdom - my favourite, I'd have gone here every day. I loved the theming, attention to detail, entertainment, rides and of course the animals. Everest was probably the best ride at WDW, Dinosaur was great but I didn't care too much for the 'travelling fair' bit and primeval whirl!
