Hi,

Travelling end of august do the restaurants and shops still accept travellers cheques on international drive and all the parks.

Thanks

Yes mostly everywhere still accept travellers cheques with the exception of few restaurants.

In Orlando, yes, but more and more they are a thing of the past.

TCs are still accepted in Orlando and many other popular tourist destinations in the USA but getting a prepaid credit card might make more sense and I guess in a few years time they are likely to be extinct.

I'd get a specialist credit card, better value than pre paid card, if rates don't change.

Get a real CREDIT card instead. The advantages of such have been documented extensively here.

Completely agree with the above. Get a real credit card or a prepaid card. We used a Thompson cash passport thing for all our big expenses and took a few hundred dollars in cash for bits and bobs. Worked fine! You can also go online and check an up to date statement. Ive also used a travelex pre paid card before and had no problems.

Just remember they don't do chip and pin in the states, you have to sign for everything!

Completely agree with "Get a REAL credit card". And to add - get one from one of the issuers that offers zero fee, city rate exchanges. Look on a popular comparison website for choices - there are a few.

Also - take at least one additional method of payment as a backup in case of loss etc. Another card, even if it does have fees. Keep it/them completely separate as you travel and leave it at the hotel whilst you are in resort.

Keep a note of all your spends. Stick within what you can afford to pay off, and do so, in full, when due. This is as close as you can get to truly "free" foreign exchange.

All pre-payment methods - cheques, pre-pay cards etc., involve some element of additional cost to you, however cleverly it's hiddden.
