Rainforest Cafe or Garden Grill for 1st night meal in WDW?

Hi

We arrive in WDW in 2 weeks and staying in Kidani Villas. Looking for fun restaurant option for first night, our kids are 16, 13 and 11 and had thought about Rainforest Cafe in AK but reviews are really not great so then thought should we go for Character Meal to get "in the spirit of disney" but unsure which would be the best option.

Any other suggestions that maybe near? We have Mama Melrose booked and La Hacienda San Angel.

Thanks

Garden Grill is lovely, and you can catch a quick trip on Soarin' while you're there ;)

If you're looking for a fun, 50's Prime Time Cafe and Sci-Fi Dine In are both fun and unique (but not Disney character though).

Rainforest is about the atmosphere. It is a neat concept restaurant, but the food is going to be so so and pricey.

Are you looking to go in to a park to do this meal? benefit of Rainforest at AK is that you dont have to go in to the park.

Chef Mickeys would work for you.

We don't often venture too far our first night. I would book Boma at the AKL, you can walk over :)

Do you mean the night you arrive? Guess it depends what time you get to your resort, but I know a lot of people are too tired to venture far on their arrival day after a long haul flight.

You might just feel like staying at your resort, of your two choices though I'd personally say Rainforest Cafe, not too far to venture out and ok the food isn't that amazing, but you could have a few appetisers instead and take in the atmosphere?

That is exactly what we were thinking partypa, in that we would take our first night easy and just wander around locally, which is why we picked Rainforest thinking it was near and might be fun. Looking at Boma, that looks like a great option and the reviews are amazing.

Chef Mickeys looks like another good option but wont that be a little far for us...?

Not especially looking for a park, will just get our bearings on our first evening as we wont arrive until early evening.

Boma is great and our kids love it (similar ages to your two youngest)

Sanaa is also very good

Rainforest Cafe is a great experience - food is decent, if a tad pricey but the place is something else (T Rex is nicer though)

We eat at Boma every time we visit, yes, it is that good. Try for an ADR right now, relax and enjoy :)

Thanks for all your advice.

So overall, Boma or Rainforest? Sanaa looks nice but the menu isnt for us.

What is an ADR? One of the biggest challenge of booking a disney holiday is learning all the abbreviations - lol!!
