Pirates of the Caribbean Accident

It is a mystery how this happened (although this suggest his hand was outside the boat), but I guess that will come out at some point:

Any accident is awful

What was a "thrill seeking male" doing on Pirates ? Not exactly a Thrill Ride

Will wait for the rest of the story

Sigh. These rides are only safe when guests follow the instructions. We shall see when Disney concludes its investigation what, if any, modifications will come to the ride to prevent future accidents.

Just last year, a little boy was banged up badly enough to spend a few days in hospital at the Pirates ride at Disneyland Paris. After much sucking of teeth and rending of clothing, the security footage was released -- the little guy was standing up on the ride, and dad was allowing it, busy doing everything *except* making his son sit down like they tell you over and over.

But there's always those folks who can't understand why the rules apply to them, too....

We showed our sons this new story when it was on Sky News yesterday and I said 'what does the man say at the beginning if the rides' and we all said 'please keep your arms and legs inside at all times'.

I can only imagine that this man wasn't doing what he was supposed to. I've been to quite a few industrial accidents with work and when it comes out in the wash not one person was following the rules to the letter.

Apparently the man had his arms in the air as many people do when riding and it took part of his finger off, he didn't have them out of the side of the boat.
