WDW - Hurricane ? and unused tickets

We are going to WDW late August - purchasing 7 adult and 1 kid - 3-4 day base tickets - about $2500 worth - what happens if we go to WDW for 1 day and then can't use the rest of the ticket. They expire after 14 days and we won't be there long enough to use them .

You can add the no expiration option to your tickets and they will be good forever. But why buy tickets that you aren't going to use? If you are only going to be there for one day, then buy a one day ticket.

The Disney parks rarely close for Hurricanes. I was there for the 2004 whammy season and of the 3 storms that hit WDW, the parks only closed 2 highly severe days. The rest of the days were normal operating days in the rain. I believe there was some reparation for the 2 days the parks were actually closed, but if you aren't going to use your days because it is raining, that is on you and there will be no refund.

The 2 days were for 2 different storms a couple weeks apart, so even then, families only truely "lost" 1 vacation day.

If you are worried about hurricanes,Orlando is inland not on the coast so with most storms,it just rains. And if you don't want to go in the rain, you don't get a day added to your ticket,it rains almost every afternoon in the summer in Florida.

Check http://www.nhc.noaa.gov If there is one coming would you travel in the first place? Your unused tickets would remain good until you do come.

No we'll be buying the 3 or 4 day base tickets - has the park closed for more than 24 hrs in the past?

Thank you for all the responses - it's helpful to know Disney hasn't shut down for a long period for a hurricane.
