If you drive yourself, Miami is not really a day trip due to the distance and driving time. Either spend the night there or take an organized tour. grayline.com/tours/…

The water and beach in Miami is beautiful...I am thinking of doing the same when we go in September for 1 day. Don't need to do anything else the beach is all I need.

Have a look at the "Things to Do" section on the Miami TA page for ideas. It is a long way for a day trip IMHO...about 4 hrs each way.

It's a 4hr drive to Miami - you won't have much time to see anything unless you stop overnight

What are your likes? Dislikes? Budget? Time of year? A rental car offers the most flexibility.

I'd suggest the Greyline tour too. They'll take you to the places you 'll probably want to go, without the hassle of driving, navigating, and finding parking. It is doable as a day trip, but figure it's 8 to 10 hours in the car for 8 to 10 hours on the ground. Me personally, I'd do it in a second. I love Miami.
