Hire Car - Credit Card

Hi we are hiring a car through Alamo. will we need a credit card to secure this car? we do have a card but it has only a £500 limit by choice. will we need to increase this or should it be sufficient

thank you

Alamo do not put an authorisation on a cc

However I would increase the credit limit in case

of emergency such as a visit to hospital where you will have to pay up front by cc for treatment and claim it back from your insurance

You can always reduce when you get home it if it's not needed

Absolutely increase your credit limit for the exact reason Susie has given. In addition to possible medical emergencies, you never know when your trip might be unexpectedly delayed. Thousands of travelers (domestic & international) were stranded in New York & Boston this winter because of multiple snowstorms. The flight delays even had a ripple effect affecting travelers in Orlando.

Another possible flight delay in the making and another reason to have a credit card for emergencies. flyertalk.com/story/code-orange-increased-ac…
