I never book excursions in the Bahamas. When you get off the ship in Nassau you are right in the middle of downtown with shops and food. If you want to do something else there will be a ton of people at the end of the pier selling all kinds of excursions 30% cheaper than the ship.
In Freeport there is nothing at the pier so I always hop in a cab and have them take me to the market areas. Shops and food on one side and beautiful beaches, 2 great hotels, and a casino across the street. There is a place right there to rent a scooter. Very little traffic makes them a fun way to explore.
Just a shout out to anyone on carnival sensation for oct 7 2012 to freeport. Just talk to Diane of Pat and Diane tours, She has openings for anyone who likes to snorkel the reefs. I booked today and got big discount off tour. They pick you up right off the boat, Ive been on alot of shore excursions and never met any nicer person than Diane! Looking forward to it, I hope fellow passengers will join us! J.K. Herring
Where did you book this excursion. Im scared to book ahead because I dont want to be scammed lol.
You can book excursions on the ship. I would not pre book any excursions as the weather can change quickly in the carribean. October is still hurricane season. This time of year there are lots of storms. Unless its 100% refundable if you should decide not to go I would not book early. Also TA has a forum for cruisers. Try www.cruisecritic.com.
Britty- In Freeport I would take a cab over to Lucayan National Park. Looks amazing! We are taking the Oct 7th Sensation to the bahamas. I booked the dolphine encounter directly through blue lagoon and was much cheaper then the cruise site. Also there is an amazing tour in Freeport..look up Chad 4 nature on facebook. JKH1200..are you on the Oct 7th cruise also?
