Alligators, Restaurants and Supermarkets Cape San Blas

We are going to CSB for the first time for the holidays. I have been trying to read up on what is around but seems like it is fairly desolate. Looking at gathering some provisions for the stay. ANy suggestions as to some good selection grocery stores and fish markets to get some fresh fish, cheeses and fish?

Also, we are bringing our dogs down. The place we are staying at in Hibiscus Bay, has fishing ponds. Wondering if we need to be on the lookout for gators.

Lastly, anything other than the ice cream place within 5 miles? Otherwise will need to stock up on libations as well.

You are in for a treat at Cape San Blas! It's a wonderful area and with the pet friendly beaches the dogs will have a blast too (whole area is pet friendly).

Cape San Blas has Coneheads which has more than Ice Cream ... it has burgers, dogs, BBQ, chicken and other options). The Cape also has 2 convenience stores which can keep you going with made to order pizza, hot and cold sandwiches, wings etc. as well as well stocked grocery items. Trading Post has fresh meat and veggies too as well as libations of all sorts (just ask them as they have to sell the liquor in a separate place so you won't see it in the "store". Both convenience stores have wine and beer!

Fresh seafood is easy to find! The Piggly Wiggly in Port St. Joe has it as well as several places by Presnell's Marina (will pass as you leave Port St. Joe and before you get to the Cape). If you're in Apalachicola, 13 Mile Seafood is great as well! The Pig also has a deli for cheeses etc. or there are several places that will pack you picnic lunches etc. (Provisions I think does).

If you want to eat out, there are LOTS of wonderful choices in the area. You can see a full list here: thecapeescape.com/Cape_San_Blas_Restaurants.…

I hope you have a wonderful trip and really enjoy the area!

If you are driving from the west , you can stop at many places in panama city including Walmart ( Calloway) , also in Port St. Joe across from the Pig is a newer Dollar General with groceries that are cheaper (?fresher)

Don't know about the gators on CSB but get the dogs out to the beach ( no gators in the gulf) not ponds and they will enjoy themselves better anyway. Have fun ( it may be cold) but you should be able to set up a beach bonfire! - on of the few places you can stil do that!
