Travelling between Vilano beach and Old Town area.

Hi we are booked to stay at the Hampton Inn on Vilano beach and was wondering what transport options there are to get to the old town area. We will have a car but would prefer to leave at the hotel. Any information would be great. Thanks.

Hello Sharon.

It's a 3 mile mostly scenic walk up over a bridge, through a residential area, and then along the commercial street to the Historic District. The Historic District is quite compact.

Everyone should take the Trolley Tour. The Old Town Trolley Tour will send a courtesy car to the Hampton Inn to pick you up and take you to where their office is to catch the trolley. To return to the Hampton Inn, you would get on one of the trolleys and ride around to their office and they would then take you back to the hotel in the courtesy car. The last tour leaves their office at 4:00 p.m. and the tour takes about 70 minutes, so you would need to catch that last one somewhere along the route or you would have to settle on another way back to your hotel. The trolley tour office is along the tour route, and is located between the Hampton Inn and the Historic District. Trolley tour tickets are good for three days, and the company will provide this courtesy car service for that period.

You could drive your car. You have to pay for most parking, but some establishments have free parking. For example, Columbia Restaurant, which is right in the middle of the Historic District, has free parking for it's restaurant guests behind the restaurant while they are eating.

There are no city buses.

Have a nice visit,

The trolley might be a good option, because with the trolley pass, you can park your car at the old jail, or the trolley information center next to Ripleys for free (with the pass of course) and then you would have transportation back after dinner. If you'll be drinking, then cabs are you only option.
