We are staying at the Casa Monica hotel and I am trying to avoid paying the outrageous $24 per night fee for parking at the hotel. Are there options for overnight parking in the city?

Outrageous? Don't drive to NYC - hotel parking is $50+ per night!

Free street parking is possible within walking distance of the Casa Monica, you just have to park out of the main historic district.

Under Florida law, they would have been required to inform you of parking charges at the time of booking. If they did not, you can dispute those charges with your credit card or have them removed from your hotel bill.

If you were informed, you either need to cancel and rebook somewhere else, bite the bullet and pay it, or spend valuable vacaion time fretting about legally parking your car or being constantly worried about it being towed.

Southwest of the Casa Monica - and south of Pot Belly's Theatre are a couple of parking lots that allow free parking after 5pm M-F and free parking all weekend. You can park at a metered space but that is a hassle. Or you can use the Parking Garage for $10 per day on the north side of town. Most of the Bed & Breakfasts in town include parking - so you will know for your next trip. Along with breakfast. And more. :)

Free parking is hard to find and has gotten worse in recent years. However, congratulations for choosing the Casa Monica. Great place!
