I always recommend Saw Grass Park in Pinellas Park. It is a raised boardwalk where you can see lots of migratory wading birds, hawks, owls, osprey, alligators, snakes, armadillo, etc. They are all in their natural habitat. There is a pavillion and you can bring a picnic lunch. Lots of locals who will show the sights to you, it is free. Weedon Island near Gandy in St. Petersburg has boardwalks above salt water mangroves. There is a wonderful museum. It is also free. They have various bird walks and nature walks as well. Boyd Sanctuary in St. Petersburg off 54th St. and MLK Blvd has nice walking paths around pine trees, fresh water lake. I think it is a $3 pp donation and they are closed on Tues. They also offer various nature programs during the day and evening. The Suncoast Primate Sanctuary is in Palm Harbor, they take in primates that have been used in research, retired circus animals etc. They are open on Thurs., Fri., Sat. and Sunday to the public. The donation is $10, it is a non-profit and located off US 19. Check out Eckerd College, eckerd.edu. They do not have their public calendar posted for Sept. and Oct. yet, (look uder news, then click public calendar). They have many events and exhibits that are free and open to the public. Eckerd is located on Pinellas Bayway, 54th Ave. South, 8 minutes from St. Pete Beach.

Taking our 6 year old Granddaughter to St Pete's beach for one day of a DisneyWorld trip. Any suggestions for places to park, bathrooms, restaurants, umbrella or chair rentals? Thanks so very much!
