Hotel close to restaurants/bars

We (4 guys) going to St. Pete for 5 days in March to see Spring Training games. We are looking to stay beachside at a hotel that is close (walking distance) to restaurants/bars. We are considering Sirata and Alden Beach resorts but are unsure of their proximity to things. Any help? Any other hotels that might suit our needs?

I'm familiar with that area, and the two hotels you mentioned are right on the "strip" in St. Pete Beach. You'll be able to walk up and down Gulf Blvd. to restaurants/bars or even kick off your shoes and walk up and down the beach to various beachfront tiki bars. Be sure to go to Woody's Waterfront, the Sloppy Pelican, Philthy Phil's (all three are very close together). They are a short drive away, but worth it. Also hit John's Pass in Madeira Beach. It's about 15 min. north of St. Pete Beach--just over the drawbridge from Treasure Island--and is a fun waterfront boardwalk with restaurants/bars/shops and great people watching. You can line up deep-sea fishing trips and casino cruises from there.

Have fun.

Check out the Bilmar Beach Resort. Ask for a remodeled room as they just finished one of their 3 buildings and they are awesome. Flat screen TV's granite counters in kitchenette and bath--really first class. They have Sloppy Joe's on the Beach in their hotel and it is excellent! Great menu and atmosphere. Great Beach deck and views. The beach is the widest I have seen. Across the street from many other drinking and dining establishments. Better than the Alden or Sirata. Alden has no restaurant in it. Check it out. I was there recently and was really impressed. I go to this area often!!!
