Evening Entertainment

hi,

A mixed group from england are hitting St Petes Beach area in July this year ( pretty warm then eh !! ). One of the guys is getting married, so we will be looking for plenty of good places to eat and then drink and be merry.

Any tips for good restaurants and bars you can recommend, also we will be looking for somewhere to take the young man on his last night of freedom...

Look forward for any tips.

Try the Harp and Thistle at 6110 Gulf Blvd. inside the Howard Johnson's Hotel (www.harpandthistlepub.com). Also, go to Philthy Phil's and Woody's Waterfront.

There are a lot of fun clubs/ beach bars in the St. Pete Beach area,

Jimmy B's is a good beach bar,it is the bar for Best Western Beachfront Resort 6200 Gulf Boulvard . We always enjoy it here!

Bongo's Beach Bar, is just down from Jimmy B's which is also fun.

There is another spot called the The Undertow on

3850 Gulf Blvd, I have never been here but apparently it is a very good party spot, I will be checking it out in April when I go back to florida for a month.

Have fun I will post again in MAy when I return and let you know what else I find!

Younger Crowd: Shepard's, Clearwater Beach. They have tiki deck with outdoor Reggae/Island music. Have a bite to eat and drink. Inside, a few years ago there weas a dance club. Never went in but it drew large crowds of younger partier types. Another option, younger, large with dancing- The Daquiri Deck in Madeira beach.

Older but not OLD: head to John's Pass between Madeira beach and Treasure Island. Gator's: Next to the bridge, on the water. Tons of dolphins swim in the waterway. Outdoor decks, two stories indoors, live music every night. Great bands but take caution because music varies! They have everything from an Elvis to Friday Night Bike night (motorcycles)!!! Don't forget to try the Grouper Sandwich (Type of Fish- the area is known for it) They have the best! I recommend it blackened.

Across the bay is Scully's which has great Seafood and next door is "The Hut". The Hut is very tropical and always plays some sort of Reggae music. Again, it's on the water. You can eat outside and watch the Pelicans and Dolpins try to steal the Fishermen's catches after docking their boats. You'll also find Jet Ski & Boat Rentals, Para-sailing, Boat Trips, Casino Boat, etc. all at John's pass ( ask around and find a sunset "Booze Cruize" )

Don't concern yourself too much with planning everything before you go. You will find information EVERYWHERE regarding all these places, as well as the other restaurants mentioned.

I live up north and love the area so much I travel there 2-3 times a year. In fact I'm planning on getting married on the beach there next spring!

Enjoy your trip! You'll find most people around there.

Ooops! one last thing... The very first "Hooters" is located somewhere in that area. I don't know where, as I am female and have no desire to go, but you could celebrate your pal's last night of freedom there.

Disclaimer... I do not advocate any bachelor party nonsense!!! I am merely offering a suggestion. lol

Barkley, Love Florida, Pegamis

Thanks guys for your comments - certainly making me look forward to this summers trip - just can't wait to get back.

This will be my third trip to the states and also third visit to florida - but first for St Petes so the tips come in handy.

Pegamis - I have been told off for not asking if there was anywhere suitable for a hen party for the girls, afterall it is the brides last night of freedom too...

I'm sure hooters might be a possibility for the bachelor night out !!!

Cheers

The "hens" might enjoy the Hurricane in Pass-A-Grille (www.thehurricane.com). It's at the very Southern tip of St. Pete Beach past the big pink hotel named the Don Cesar.
