Condos on Sanibel

Hi, we have never been to Sanibel, have young children, and are looking for a condo with kitchen for 4-5 nights. We received recommendations for Casa ybel and Sundial, but noted that it is very unit dependent. We would like a 2BR beachfront the week after Easter. Any thoughts? and What is the best way to locate, contact the owner and rent an updated, desirable condo? Many thanks!

Look at www.vrbo.com - vacation rentals by owner

Ocean front - Many are oceanfront or oceanview, look at Ocean's Reach

Pointe Santo

Coquina Beach

Gulf Beach

Sanibel Moorings

Sanibel Arms

Signal Inn

There are many more - just a starting point for you.

We really love Pointe Santo. We always stay in the beach front units building A & E. The lower level is nice since you have young children just a few steps to the beach. The grounds are well kept, pool is clean, beach chairs are great, palm trees for shade, and the staff is pleasant. A great place!

My family just returned from Sanibel last week :(.

We had two little ones and had a wonderful time at Sanibel Surfside through Royal Shell Vacations. This was the best $ vaule $, and the units were stunning.

Have a great time.

Thanks for the advice!

Here are some additional specifics that might help to clarify what we are looking for...

Kids- 4 & 7 -- would enjoy resort like activity

Upper floor, ocean front 2 BR unit with washer, dryer

Updated unit

Option of restaurant and kitchen

Sundial sounds large, but has some attractive places, kids prog., but may be overly crowded near Easter?

We appreciate any help.

Most likely everywhere will be crowded around Easter. However, if you are arriving the week after Easter - it could slow down drastically. We were there a couple years ago after Easter - went from crowded to ghost town overnight.. then picked back up again the next day, but not as crazy.

Since you are going for less than a week - most places rent sat - sat, your options might not be as broad.

Check out Sanibel Inn - they offer a Jazz bar and restaurant, as well as a pool side cafe. Adult and kids programs are advertised, but I have not heard about them.

Pointe Santo would be a good option - but there is not a restaurant on site. There is Twilight Cafe a short walk away, open B,L,D. You will have to find someone willing to rent less than a week - look at vrbo, or check with the agencies - VIP and Royal Shell.

Casa Ybel has restaurant - more upscale and a pool bar/cafe, also kiddie pool and programs, also rents nightly.

Sundial - is large, mixed reviews, but the resort itself rents for less then a week. Restaurant, kiddie pool, kids programs, etc.

Sanibel Moorings would be out for you, they don't have w/d in the rooms, only laundry rooms.

Probably the most economical choice would be sundial, Casa Ybel can get pricy.

Thanks everyone! You are all so helpful.

Pointe Santo A and E units look great.

Does anyone have preferences on a building at Sundial that is close to both pool and beach? I am having a hard time getting a good look at a detailed property map with specific building layout.

Same thing with Casa Ybel... I can't seem to find any specific unit information.
