Red Tide

Is anyone experiencing "red tide" on the beach today. We are headed there now. The news reports are saying it's from Sanibel south. I don't want to waste my money to get there and the trip is a bust........thanks!

I looked at the govt website yesterday.

Only appreciable concentrations on Sanibel were down by the lighthouse (medium so there could be fish kills).

I am here now. I normally would not go in the Gulf at this time of year anyway. Beach is OK as far as I can tell.

I was there last week and saw occasional dead fish washed up here and there but didn't notice any objectionable symptoms myself or anyone I was with (i.e. eye irritation).

the dec 1st map is out:

Very high concentrations SE of sanibel off ft myers beach (but only medium on). So could be unpleasant if you are out on a boat in that direction (or the winds come from there).

Medium reports (big enough for fish kills) all the way south to MArco now. the good news is, that where it was like this end of Oct in Charlotte Co is now clear of Bloom. So hopefully it won't last long in Sanibel either?
