We are really looking forward to our Longboat Key vacation starting the third week of April. I read some reviews of the effects of red tide in Siesta Key in January (dead fish, horrible smell, respiratory issues, etc). I am just learning about red tide and getting a bit nervous that we could be really unlucky and it might hit during our stay, forcing us off of the beach. The whole point of this trip is to enjoy the beach so I am hoping that the odds are in our favor. I know that I can check red tide reports daily as we get closer to our trip, but I am wondering if there are any good predictors of red tide that might reassure me that we will be in the clear? Such as: time of year?, patterns of movement?, anything?
