Activities in the area?

What are some things to do there, family things? Our daughter will be a yr n a half. Also some water activities like sup board, jet ski, paddle boat and kayak? Where would be some good places to order lunch/dinner in delivery or pick up to take back? Thanks!!!

Definitely check out Ringling Museum. Drive South to Venice beach and do some shelling and search for sharks teeth.

How far away is that beach? We would not have a car there. Is there any public transportation bus or cabs?

Dont think there are buses there- might be.

Where exactly are you staying? Would need to know to help you find things.

Toddlers like the pool and the beach. And it does tire them out so you won't need too much else. Find a nearby play park, and visit the Mote Aquarium- they have a touch tank perfect for littleuns.

I second Mote Aquarium. Do the Mote boat also. Get some sand toys, and any toddler will have a ball. To get to Mote you can get on the bus and head south.

Without a car Venice is much too far.

While Ringling is great for adults, I seriously doubt a toddler would enjoy it, and you will likely find yourself carrying her around.

For SUP etc. we need to know where you are staying exactly to find something close. On AMI Funandmore or Beachbums will deliver a SUP or kayak to where you are staying.

So you probably want Lido Key, or Anna Maria island.

Both have places to walk to from different accommodations, both have public transport (AMI's is a free trolley but to get down to Lido/Mote you have to switch to a paid trolley on Longboat Key). Both have good beaches.

Longboat Key is beautiful, but very spread out, and few places offer walkable shops and restaurants. I agree with Amanx that either Lido or Anna Maria Island would offer you more choices that are easier to get to.

Anna Maria has the free trolley to get around. Little ones love this, as no car seats involved. Bradenton Beach or the city of Anna Maria are more walkable, with things closer. Holmes Beach is more residential, with not as many restaurants walkable.

Without a car, and with a little one accompanying you, Anna Maria and Lido are the real choices. And of the two, I'd go with Anna Maria -- fun activities and that free trolley to get you around. Lido is good too, but bus transportation is limited, The trolley on Anna Maria is free and runs every 20 minutes. The bus service on Lido costs money and runs only once an hour from Mondays through Saturdays, and not at all on Sunday.
