siesta key or longboat key

Planning visit Orlando and want to go to a beach. Have an 18 and 12 year old. Which has more things to do --long boat key or siesta key. Water sports, kayaking etc.

How much did yu want to spend for 1 week? that is important.

a 2 bedroom unit?

Beachfront units are not inexpensive.

Look at:

Siesta Dunes

Island House

Crescent Arms

Sea Crest Apartments

Tropical Shores (close to the beach)

The Capri (close to the beach)

Jamaica Royale

Palm Bay Club

Longboat Key is very quiet during the summer...too quiet.

Do you know much about the Diplomat resort in Longboat key. Is it nice, are there fun stuff for kids to do nearby, is it easy to get to AMI from there. We cannot find anything ocean front with a pool and kitchen at AMI for 5 nights.

It is really easy to get to AMI from Longboat. There is one main road that serves both islands, with just a small drawbridge between them. No need to go back to the mainland. It is a very pretty drive.

The Diplomat is a fine place to stay:

You would not be far from Mote Aquarium which also has some great boat rides.

You would also be a short drive to St. Armands Circle for shopping/dining.

Fishing is fun.. www.flyingfishfleet.com

as is kayaking www.kayakfl.com

Lots to do.

If it is on the southern end of LBK, there are also some restaurants you can walk to like Dockside and Charter house plus the ones on Ken Thompson near the Mote.
