Broken Egg Restaurant

For those of you hard boiled Broken Egg fans,

Bob (the owner) announced the permitting problem was solved and "the Egg" should re-open sometime between April 1 thru 7.

Upon hearing that the Broken Egg won't be open during our stay on Siesta Key March 8-15, my husband muttered, "Oh, phooey!" I assured him that SRQgirl likely had another breakfast spot to suggest.

On Siesta Key, Clayton's Siesta Grille has a great breakfast and Betty (from the Broken Egg) and many other wait staff are working there. (Crescent Beach area)

In the Village, there is the Village Cafe and the Patisserie(new).

On the mainland, on Osprey Ave. is the Oasis Cafe which is very good.

In Gulf Gate there is Word of Mouth.

There are many others.........

Is the Broken Egg up and running now? Our March 2008 trip was cancelled, but we're heading to Longboat Key Jan. 25-30 and will plan breakfast at the Broken Egg if it's still considered among Sarasota's top spots.

Yes the Broken Egg has re-opened and is on Avenida Messina. I don't consider it the best place in town.

On Lido you have the Blue Dolphin and very recently, Cork (on St. Armands) will serve breakfast.

On the mainland, on Osprey (north of Siesta Drive) you have the Oasis Cafe which is owned by the original owners of the Broken Egg. One of my favorites.

In Gulfgate, there is the Word of Mouth.

And others.......

Found a solitary TA review on Oasis Cafe at 3542 S Osprey Ave. Mediterranean cuisine rather than a breakfast spot...is that right?

Does the new Broken Egg with its new owners have a new menu, too? No more original art on the walls? We enjoyed the vibe as much as our Banana Bread French Toast and Crab Eggs Benedict when we visited several years ago. What don't you like about the place on Avenida Messina?

Sorry, didn'tmean to imply anything negative.

Just mentioning some other options.

Cafe Patisserie and Village Cafe in the Village, too.

Yes, that's the Oasis Cafe address.

Broken Egg has the same owners and the vibe you remember. Also outside seating...

The Oasis on Osprey Ave. is a breakfast spot, I didn't see any Mediterraen food on their menu. There is also another resturant called Oasis on US 41 which does have Mediterraen food.
