Thanksgiving Siesta Key/Sarasota area

We have visited Siesta Key many times, but have always stayed in and I have cooked on Thanksgiving. We are from Wales so this year we would like to book somewhere to eat a traditional thanksgiving fare, restaurant or hotel we don't mind. Any suggestions.

Thanksgiving and Mothers Day are the busiest times to eat out.

Every place in town will be serving the "traditional" turkey dinner.

Depends on your budget etc.

Ophelia's on the Bay is wonderful Mattisons on 41, and a personal favorite is the Bijou Cafe downtown.

But, there are many, many others...

Reservations in advance will be a must do.

What are you looking for as far as location , price etc?

Thanks for your reply. We don't want to travel far, staying at the Casa Blanca. Ophelia's looks nice, we have been coming to Siesta Key for quiet a few years but have never been to that restaurant, it looks good. What about the Ritz Carlton? do you think we should book wherever we decide to go?

The Ritz Carlton puts on a wonderful holiday dinner but you will have to drive to downtown Sarasota.

Ophelias is on the south end of Siesta Key.

Yes, no matter where you go you must have reservations. It is a very busy time.

Another wonderful restaurant in a lovely setting is Roessler's. They would be south of you on US 41. Less costly than the Ritz, probably in the same range and, I think, same quality as Ophelias.

OK, ....last Thanksgiving we were looking for a great place to have dinner. So we asked a local lady & she suggested Troyers Dutch Heritage restaurant on Beneva. It was SO Good! It is Homemade

Amish Food. Thanksgiving Dinner was about $18 pp & includes dessert.

Oh yeah, we were seating in an Amish Buggy to eat dinner!!

They have great pies & lots of local peolpe were there eating with their families. Go there!!! Yummy!!

Troyers, and nearby Yoders, serves hearty "down-home" food -- nothing fancy: think chicken and gravy, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, etc. Plus, cream pies of many varieties, all presented in a very plain setting. It is traditional Amish cooking in an area where many Amish and Mennonites live, especially in Winter months. Troyers also has a nice gift shop attached. It's definitely not to be confused with the Ritz, Ophelias, Bijou or Roesslers. But it's an option for a simple and filling meal (and probably one high on cholesterol).

Joey,

How much do you want to spend and what type of ambiance would you enjoy?

Then you can make a decision.

Too late for New Years reservations? No, most of us are thinking about Thanksgiving, first ;-)

Downtown Sarasota is fun on New Years Eve.
