Siesta Key rental vs. Lido Beach Long Beach or Venice.

Okay I'm starting to get overwhelmed a little.

We are slightly active, 60's couple looking to relax fro a week in Mid Feb. on gulf side of florida.

Wither hotel, condo or private home would be fine. But would prefer on or very near the beach.

Rental budget $125 to $200 per night.

Beach time 2 -3days tops. Like fishing . some night life not much. Some activities but really just want to chill.

It looks as tho most people prefer Siesta Key to rent. what are the best places to stay there within our budget? How does Sandbox on the Beach copare to Crescent Arms or Tropical Shores? Is everything 2nd to Hyatt?

Would also like people's recommendations for seafood and Italian restaurants.

thanks a lot.

jaxon

What do people do other thatn the beach?

Well, you wont' get Hyatt on your budget, as FEb is the most expensive time, and the Hyatt is the most expensive rental.

In fact, your budget may be tight on al the islands, and picking slim as many book further out. Venice you will probably find something that price, but not beachfront. But somep0laces there have a moin rental, and don't know how many weeks you want. If 3 days only, you'll be restricted by budget and availability.

I would go to the indvidual forums for recs of those places rent however many days you want (be it 3 days or 3 weeks), and at your budget.

Lots of people enjoy water activities like boating, nature viewing trips, museums, gardens, and fishing. Many golf that time of year. Most might stroll the beach almost daily, but not hang out there all day. Mainly, they relax and enjoy sunshine, read, enjoy whatever their hobbies are. Some visit the state parks.

As has been mentioned, you are coming at the height of season ($$$)..Spring Break. Having said that, you will have to check rates on these:

My favorite place for couples on the beach is Crescent Towers.

www.crescenttowers.com

Tropical Shores is a short walk to the beach without any roads to cross.

www.tropicalshores.com

this includes Tropical Shores, Sara Sea Resort and Tropical sUN.

Sea Crest Apartments is another option and Capri Inn.

Sandbox on the Beach is not inexpensive.

Crescent Arms, Sea Club V Jamaica Royale, Palm Bay Club,

Sea Shell and others...

The best Italian is Siesta Village is Bella Roma.

Check out Anna Maria Island, too.

You might also want to call Suntide Island Beach Club on Lido Key and see if they have availability. Although it is primarily a timeshare place they do rent out weekends and odd days when units are available.

I looked at two places. One at Crescent towers and one at SEACLUBV. They both look reasonable. Hyatt is just a little too too.

thanks for the tips on the Italian Restaurant . anyone know the best deep sea fishing guide? or failing that, good seafoodLOL

We are going the week after Christmas for our first trip and staying at Crescent Towers. I researched a lot of places before deciding on this. Like you, I was very overwhelmed with all the choices. But this seemed like the best choice for us...we are also a couple with a budget similar to yours. And I like to have the ocean view from where I stay. Several people who stayed here recommended it to me. I would read reviews, look at the pics, and go with what feels right to you

Instead of dep sea fishing you might want to consider fishing in Sarasota Bay.

You will have fun and catch a wide vareity of edible fish.

There is a place across the street from Crescent Towers call CBs Saltwater Outfitters. I can highly recommend Rick Grassett who docks his boat there.

The best in the area..

www.cbsoutfitters.com

If you want deep sea fishing (with fighting chair etc) you can go to the Marina Jack docks downtown...The Big Catch is there, owned by the Flying Fish.

www.flyingfishfleet.com

For seafood, some of my favorite places in Sarasota are a drive..

On Siesta you can try Clatyon's Siesta Grille, Blase Cafe, The Cottage

and some like the Siesta Key Oyster Bar for live music and a fish sandwich.

Tropical breeze as well as some of the rentals in the village area may work with your budget. There are a few rentals on VRBO that would work too.

Hi Thanks for your help.

I was wondering if youd recommend a good even high end seafood place in Sarasota.

Fish on.

Owen's Fish Camp in downtown Sarasota is unique and very good...Olde Florida. make reservations early during Spring Break.

Drydock Waterfront Grill on Longboat Key.

Capt. Brians (N. Tamiami Trail) is not much on atmosphere but great food.

The best in Cortez is the Star Fish Company...really fresh

(off Anna Maria Island)

Ophelia's on the Bay has a mixed menu but great place on SK.

many more..
