Things to do at Siesta Key

While i am perfectly content to relax on the beach for two days my wife and younger daughter (12) are not. Is there anything to do in the area beside shop or enjoy a fine meal?

There is a really nice sunset cruise taking off from Sarasota Bay. It's called Lebarge, you can google it. I've only done the sunset cruise...about 2 hours, some guy plays guitar ala Jimmy Buffett type music, cash bar. You see the gorgeous homes on BirdKey and other places before going to see the sunset. $25/person. As far as other fishing/sightseeing things to do on the water....I'm not a good one to ask. I just like to shop and fine dine :)

There are an unlimited amount of things to do in the area.

If they like water activities, I would highly recommend kayaking through the mangroves with a guide..no experience necessary:

There is also fishing, parks, botanical gardens, Mote Aquarium (with optional boat tours), museums, boating etc etc.

www.ticketsarasota.com (for events etc.)

If you need more info about specific places, just ask.

May I also suggest gong to the State Park and look at the alligators (or are they crocodiles?) in their natural habitat. You pay a small fee and are taken by boat all around the shores where they are basking in sun or in the water. As we don't often see such animals it was really interesting to see. We also caught a bus to the Casino in Tampa and it's about an hour-and-a-half drive to Universal Studios. Leave early in the morning on a bad weather day and you'll be back the same night. I know these are out of town, but we had fun.

Joliejojo. Did you have a website for the alligator tours? My son would love this.

They are referring to the Gator Gal boat ride at Myakka State Park. This is east of I-75 on Clark Rd.
