We have two families from Kentucky wanting to plan the week after Christmas somewhere warm. Our kids are 16, 17 and two 21 year olds. Trying to decide if Siesta Key has the right vibe. The moms and dads like the slow pace (lots of biking and leisurely walks) of Sanibel but are looking for a rental house and you can't rent a house for less than a month there. Plus with older kids I think they will want to wander around some on their own (although of course they love hanging out with their parents too!) - but they are too young to drive the rental cars so that limits how far they can go by themselves. We will also want to do some fishing, maybe kayak some or rent a boat. I like to have places to wander to; don't like just sitting on the beach and don't like dense high-rise beaches. We have found a rental house that is near the top of the Key on Ocean Blvd., close to the beach and says it is a two minute walk to the Village. I would appreciate any insights about how Siesta Key would fit our needs.
