Yesterday my good friend from Rome and I went to Blue Ridge
for a day of shopping in the downtown area. We arrived about
10:30 am and started with the quilt shop as my friend is interested
in making a baby quilt. The store is full of beautifully coordinated
fabrics and some gorgeous quilts hanging on the walls and from
the ceiling. The sales ladies there were very friendly and helpful.
Then we made our way down the main street checking out the
antiques and unique gift shops. Some shops are just beginning
to get out some Christmas merchandise. I suspect it won't be long
before they are all decorated and full of holiday items.
We had lunch at Serenity Gardens around noon. It wasn't crowded
(most unusual!) and we were seated right away. I had the
delicious chicken sandwich and my friend had half of a chicken
sandwich and macaroni salad. She loved both. A couple next to
us ordered a burger and onion rings - both huge and looked
delicious! (May order that next time).
The rest of the afternoon we continued on looking on down the
street. I did notice a new building going up. I sure hope Blue
Ridge keeps its quaint downtown atmosphere and never ends
up like Gatlinberg.
I saw a friend I graduated from high school with who was staying
in a cabin with some friends....small world.
We stopped in Ellijay for some apples and I couldn't resist a box
of apple cider donuts - yum!!
All in all, we had a great day even if it was cloudy all day - at least
it didn't rain on us.
We plan to return soon, maybe before Christmas to check everything out.
