2 Nights in North Georgia - What should we do?

My wife and I are going to Commerce Georgia for work, and we are looking for a recommendations for nearby (within 5 hours) attractions. We are thinking either a nice (almost luxury) cabin or resort high in the smoky mountains or just a trip down to Savannah for the day and 2 nights. We are flying in and out of ATL. It will be the November 18. Any suggestions? We are from MN and are clueless about GA.

It will take you about 5 hours to drive to Savannah. It is a great city with the historical district, riverfront and good food. Post on the Savannah forum for more info. The mountains around Dillard, GA/Highlands, NC are not far from Commerce and offer waterfalls and beautiful scenery if you decide to spend your time there.

Enjoy your visit.

Most the small towns in the GA mountains are quaint and offer antique shopping or other shopping opportunities. You have the outlet malls in commerce. If you have never been to the Smokies, it is worth a visit, a

picnic in Cades Cove is heaven on earth. But the smokies and pigeon forge are very touristy and congested. You have dollywood in PF, and a casino in Cherokee. Really depends on your age and what you enjoy.

I would suggest a day trip to Helen, Ga. It's a little touristy but the few times I have been I have enjoyed it very much.
