thinking of traveling to Tybee Island and wonder what wheelchair accessibility is like there? Eateries, activities, lodging, etc?

Tybee is like most places. With the passing of the ADA requirements they have been making places more accessible. The newer hotels/notels will have handicapp rooms. There are curb cuts and most resturants are accessible. In the past couple of years Tybee has experimented with some wheelchair paths to the beach. I know one is at the south end of the parking lot past the peir. Also both the ocean and back river pier are accessible.

I hope his helps.

Hello,

Just some additional info on wheelchair accessibility on Tybee. There are also

wheelchair fabric ramps at 7th street crosswalk and at the Pier. South Beach

You can also reserve - free - from the City of Tybee - a wheelchair beach chair with inflatable Roleez type wheels that make rolling over the sand a breeze.

I also have some beach houses available for rent that have just a few steps or are absolutely ground level. www.mybeachhouseontybee.com

Ask for Shamrock Lodge, Tybee Blue and Island Cottage - for no steps

Hope this helps. Lauren
