Historic neighborhoods?

Hello! My husband and I are travelling to Spokane, WA and Coeur d'Alene at the end of August. We have never been to the Pacific Northwest, and are excited about our 2-week trip. We are "state-shopping" to see if we might want to move there one day soon. One of the things we love though is historic houses. Does anyone know if there are any nice historic neighborhoods we could visit? We're also interested in historic B&B's. Thanks!

Hi Nancy,

State-shopping is so much fun. My husband & I were state-shopping in 2006 and guess what - we are living in Idaho. :)

Check these links:

Greenbriar Inn http://www.315martinisandtapas.com/

Roosevelt Inn B & B http://www.therooseveltinn.com/

Clark House http://clarkhouse.com/

Searchable Idaho B & B site http://idahobba.com/

BTW, Sandpoint's DT ( approx. 50 minutes from Coeur d' Alene) is a must-see as well. bonnercountydailybee.com/news/local/article_…

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Cheers,

Diane

Nancy, Spokane has the largest historical neighbors in the entire state so you might want to check them out, in fact I live in one of the districts, my house is 111 years old.

If you want more info PM me and I'll try to give you some directions, also stop at the visitors center and they can help too they don't give info online they are far to busy but you can call or stop by.

Hi Diane,

Thank you so much! I haven't found that B&B website before. It looks awesome! I'll definitely research it some more. What part of Idaho do you live in? Any particular tips you have for visiting?

Thank you, Collie! I didn't realize Spokane had that much in historic neighborhoods! Are you from Spokane originally? Do you recommend it as a good place to live?

Nancy, I've lived here all my life, I'm no kid as my profile on TA will tell you, as did my parents and grandparents however I've traveled a lot both domestic and internationally.

Spokane is a great place to live, good schools lots of parks and the list goes on. Coeur d'Alene is our neighbor and I'm sad to have to say these things but the schools there are under funded, education doesn't seem to be a high priority with some conservatives.and Idaho has been taken over by very conservative Californians. There can be problems with race, it's referred to as a red neck state. It's a beautiful place to live with many wonderful people, it's the radicals that make it so sad and just a shame but they seem to be in control. But I'd look both places over and get your own feeling and then make up you mind.
