Affordable Lodging and Best route down from Alberta, Canada

We are looking for affordable accomodations from Aug 13 to 18 in Hayden. Any suggestive routes would be appreciated from Alberta to Hayden. We are preferably looking for a place that would provide for light housekeeping or a small suite. Hotel accom with a kitchenette would suit our needs. Or a nice B & B. We do not require hot tubs, pools. At present we want to drive down. If airfare is reasonable might think of flying and then renting a car. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Others may have specific suggestions on Hayden accomdation. Hayden is just north of Coeur d' Alene so you may want to expand you accomodation area to include Coeur d' Alene which has all the usual motel / hotel chains and a number of B&B's. Here is the regional web site which includes acomodations in both Hayden and Coeur d' Alene - www.coeurdalene.org . Driving down from Alberta you primary choice is US95, that would be the fastest and most direct route, 95 continues into Canada via Cranbrook BC. You could also go into the US via Montana on US93, then west on Montana State Highway 37, then US2 into Bonners Ferry, Idaho, then US95 into Hayden. Both routes are scenic, Montana route longer but less traffic. If you fly, Spokane, Washington is the airport which provides airline service to the Coeur d' Alene / Hayden area, their used to be non stop commuter airline service from Calgary to Spokane but I'm not sure that is currently available. Have a good trip!

Thank you What's This? as I surely appreciated your assistance. Any specific suggestions for a B & B, or a hotel/motel accom. We checked out prices for Holiday Inn/Express it was too costly for us. Thanks, again.

If you need to specifically be in Hayden, there aren't too many hotels to choose from, but if you can branch out a little bit, Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls border Hayden and each can be reached in anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes. There are a lot more choices if you look in Coeur d'Alene (plus Coeur d'Alene has a cute little downtown area, beach, etc.....).

I'm pasting a link below to some hotels in the area. Look for Kootenai county (CdA, Hayden, Post Falls, etc.) and it has price range and an address and phone number.

If you'd consider Coeur d'Alene, you might want to try La Quinta Inn and Suites on Sherman since it has a kitchenette and should be less expensive than the Holiday Inn Express.

This link also has some Bed and Breakfasts too.

You might want to look at the Budget Saver Motel in Coeur d'Alene.

We stayed there this summer, and we were really impressed (check out my hotel review for pictures).

No kitchenette, but only $39.95 a night. The place was spotless, and completely renovated. Really quiet, too.
